Damage Restoration Technician

When fire or flood strikes, people need their homes and businesses back. At Vapor Clean and our Disaster Care sister teams, you will dry, clean, pack out and restore properties so families and firms can move on. This is hands-on work that genuinely changes someone’s worst week into a recovery story.

What you will achieve

• Restore water- and fire-affected rooms to a safe, habitable standard within agreed drying and handover times using professional extraction and dehumidification kit.
• Complete accurate pack-outs, inventories and photo records so every item is tracked from site to store and back.
• Carry out first-visit assessments that identify all damage, set a clear scope and keep insurers and customers informed.
• Keep vans, pumps and drying equipment serviceable and ready for emergency call-outs.
• Treat customers with calm professionalism during stressful visits and leave every site tidy and documented.
• Log jobs, moisture readings and photos so claims can be closed without delay.

How you will work

You will report to the operations lead, collect a company van from a South West depot and work alongside experienced technicians across domestic and commercial sites. Full kit, uniform and 24/7 support are provided. Hours are typically Monday–Friday with paid overtime for genuine emergencies and rest periods built in.

What you need to succeed

• Full UK driving licence and confidence in a 3.5-tonne van.
• Physical fitness for safe manual handling of furniture, waste and equipment.
• Clear, empathetic communication with people in difficult circumstances.
• Basic IT skills for inventories, photos and job records.
• Ability to pass a DBS check and follow health and safety procedures.
• Willingness to learn industry drying methods (full training given).
