Service Charge Manager

Location: Harborne, Birmingham

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Service Charge Manager to join an established residential property management business based in Harborne.

This is a key role within the business, taking responsibility for the preparation, management and delivery of service charge accounts across a portfolio of residential developments.

You will work closely with Property Managers, clients, leaseholders and external accountants to ensure service charge accounts are accurate, compliant and delivered within the required timescales.

Strong experience using MRI Qube is particularly important for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing annual service charge budgets
• Producing year end service charge accounts
• Managing service charge accounting across a portfolio of residential developments
• Reviewing income and expenditure against budget
• Preparing and reviewing service charge reconciliations
• Managing accruals and prepayments
• Reviewing reserve and sinking fund positions
• Producing financial reports for Property Managers and clients
• Working closely with external accountants and auditors
• Providing information required for year end accounts
• Investigating and resolving service charge discrepancies
• Responding to financial queries from Property Managers, clients and leaseholders
• Ensuring service charge demands and accounts are produced accurately and on time
• Maintaining accurate financial information within MRI Qube
• Reviewing portfolio financial performance and highlighting potential issues
• Supporting Property Managers with budget setting and financial queries
• Ensuring service charge accounting processes comply with leases and relevant legislation
• Helping to improve internal service charge processes and reporting

About You

We are looking for someone with strong service charge accounting experience gained within residential block or leasehold property management.

You should have:

• Previous experience in a Service Charge Manager, Service Charge Accountant or similar position
• Strong knowledge of residential service charge accounting
• Experience preparing service charge budgets and year end accounts
• A good understanding of accruals, prepayments and reserve funds
• Experience working with external accountants or auditors
• Strong reconciliation and financial reporting skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• The ability to manage multiple developments and deadlines
• Confidence dealing with Property Managers, clients and leaseholders
• Strong Excel skills

Experience using MRI Qube would be highly advantageous.
